Bolesław Janowski 1908 – 2010

Bolesław Janowski, one of the original members of the board of directors of the Fundacja Beiteinu Chaj – 2004 recently died at the age of 98 in Warsaw. He was born in Kraśnik near Lublin in Poland. Bolesław Janowski lost his entire family during Holocaust.
Before 1941, Bolesław Janowski fled to the USSR. He returned after 1945 and lived in Warsaw, where he was very involved in volunteer work for Jewish community in Poland.
Since the end of World War II, he was a member of many Jewish committees. He was known as a great Yiddish translator, teacher and an excellent chess player. He run the Jewish chess club for many years.
Bolesław Janowski leaves a daughter Elżbieta and a granddaughter Judyta. He will be remembered by members of the Board of Fundacja Beiteinu Chaj – 2004 and his friends.
