Beiteinu Chaj – 2004 Foundation

January 27 is a Remembrance Day for victims of Holocaust. On that day, at the “Rutika” synagogue a ceremony was held to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust during World War II. The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Dzierżoniów, Mr. Dariusz Kucharski, a representative of Beiteinu Chaj Foundation, members of the Dzierżoniów Veteran Group and Reserve Union of the Polish Army of the 1st Armored Corps, activists of the Social and Cultural Jewish Association of Jews in Dzierżoniów and representatives of the Jerusalem Community. After speeches, flowers were laid and candles lit at the monument commemorating the victims of the Holocaust.

February 28, 2017 was a day of unique ceremony at the Rutika Synagogue. Israel’s ambassador to Poland Anna Azari has awarded three medals to the Righteous Among the Nations. Posthumously decorated heroes are:

Janina and Stanisław Kulisiewicz;

Zachariasz Słowiński;

Jadwiga and Stanisław Ostoja-Solecki.

Anna Azari emphasized that although decorations are most often received by the children of the Righteous, it is a celebration of no less importance for both nations – That is our debt, which we still pay back. In Poland there are already over 6700 Righteous. Poles constitute the largest number among the 26,000 decorated with the highest Israeli civilian award given to non-Jews by Yad Vashem, World Center for Holocaust Research, Education, Documentation and Commemoration.

February 28, 2017 was a unique day for Beiteinu Chaj Foundation. All the activities for the town of Dzierżoniów in favor of various social groups were the base for the Foundation to be awarded the Honorable Medal for Merit for Dzierżoniów. The decision to award the medal the Chapter had made unanimously as a highest expression of appreciation of the Dzierżoniów City Council. The ceremonial handover was made at the Rutika Synagogue during the “Righteous Among the Nations” medal ceremony.

A “new” antique menorah appeared in our Rutika Synagogue.
